Local media · Live understanding
Your media, in sight.
GlancePlayer brings local and home-network playback together with on-device subtitles and translation—without an account, a content catalog, or a developer-operated media cloud.
Built for iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Press play. Follow every line.
Open media you already have permission to use, control playback precisely, and see generated source-language and translated subtitles over the picture. Select Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, or Korean for speech and translation.
Local playback
Open media with the system file picker. On Mac, drag and drop or use familiar open commands.
On-device subtitles
Use Apple speech technology where available, with a local WhisperKit fallback for supported languages.
System translation
Translate stable subtitle lines through Apple Translation resources installed for your device and region.
Playback control
Play, pause, seek precisely, jump ten seconds, and choose speeds from 0.5× to 2×.
FTP and SMB 2/3
A one-time purchase unlocks browsing and playback from servers you configure yourself.
Privacy by architecture
No account, advertising, analytics SDK, cross-app tracking, or developer-operated speech backend.
Free where it matters
Local file playback and on-device subtitle features are free. Network Sources is a single, non-consumable purchase that unlocks FTP and SMB 2/3 browsing and playback. Restore Purchases is available for verified StoreKit transactions.
Clear boundaries
GlancePlayer does not provide movies, a content catalog, online search, downloads, BitTorrent or magnet links, DRM bypass, or cloud speech and translation. You choose the media and are responsible for having the right to access it.
Good to know
Use FTP only on networks you trust. Speech recognition, translation, high-fidelity options, and format support depend on the device, OS, locale, installed resources, media, and server. Machine-generated text can contain errors and should not be used for medical, legal, or safety-critical decisions.
